For the Agricultural center in Wasteland 2, see Agricultural center (Wasteland 2).

Agricultural center (Wasteland) is an early game location in Wasteland.

Background[ | ]

Main article: Agricultural center

A former satellite facility in Arizona, the center survived devastation. Its crew abandoned the installation shortly after the nuclear war and joined the farmers to form the agricultural station. All alarms and electronic countermeasures were deactivated.[1]

The center would suffer two major contaminations: the outbreak of rodents under the lead of Harry in 2087 and a mysterious mutagenic plague in 2102.

Wasteland[ | ]

The Agricultural Center is a farming community. The Agricultural Center itself secured with a high wall made of adobe with several black scorch marks, with barbed wire lining the top. In front of the two vegetable fields stands a sales booth made of aluminum.

In 2087, it is under siege by mutated animals, led by Harry, the Bunny Master. It is not far from the Mine, and is little more than a shooting gallery to improve one's combat skills. The fruit trading stand near the entrance has been closed due to the seige. You can actually sell fruit here for $23 versus $15 at Quartz Emporium and other such places.

If you take the side quest to eliminate Harry, you may exit by taking the cave to the south, or by using the ST attribute to break down the doors.

Notes[ | ]

  • When you walk between the two vegetable fields then you are bombarded with giant rotten tomatoes, banana peels and pineapples.
  • When you refuse to help with the varmint problem then a child throws a stone or a huge tomato at you. If it hits you then you are asked if you seek revenge. If you choose revenge and reach for your weapons then a flamethrower is pointed at you and you change your mind.
  • To help the farmers with the varmint problem you have to find and kill Harry, the Bunny Master. You can find him in the second vegetable line (from the west) in the southern vegetable field. After you killed him you can go back to the Old Man and he gives you access to the Root Cellar.
  • The area outside the two vegetable fields is save for resting. So this map is a good spot for easy leveling. Go kill varmints and when your hit points are low then leave the field, rest some hours and then go hunting again.
  • There are two sacks with fruits in it located in the rooms at the south and the north. You can sell them to the local Agricultural Station general store to get enough money to buy the engine from the Desert Nomads to repair the water purifier in Highpool.

"Las Vegas is still intact. Needles wasn't damaged by bombs, but some flooding occurred when the river level rose. Quartz suffered a lot of damage."
In hurried script, the last diary entry reads, "We're abandoning the satellite installation so we can join the farmers out at the Ag Station. We've deactivated the alarms and electronic countermeasures that protect this place."
