A robe is either of the long, voluminous sort worn by priestly types and wizardly muckety-mucks, or of the fluffy thick sort that people used to wear after getting out of the shower before the bombs hit. Not much good for shrugging off the effects of combat, but better than running around in your skin.
Robes will take some of the sting out of pistol rounds and the knives of the punks in Quartz, but don't expect them to hold up much in Needles and beyond.
